I can't tell you how great it is to have my digital stuff organized. Now that I am able to quickly find items, I am having a little fun. Especially experimenting with different textures and blending modes. I've got a little something that I am working on and will share next week.

I can't believe Summer Break is almost over. The first day of school is Monday. It went by way too fast. I've been hanging out with the kids. Well, mostly Lauren. Colin prefers the company of his friends and girlfriend. Lots of swimming and playing. I want to enjoy her as much as possible. Before I know it, the time will come that she will rather hang out with her friends.
Christine Middlecamp is the queen of layout design and an embellishing genius. She is the cat's meow. When I saw her layout tutorial on Ali Edwards' blog, I knew I had to do it. Except I didn't want to make a big mess in my craft room. So I did my version digitally.
I've been working on purging, organizing, prioritizing and labeling all of my digital scrapbooking supplies and graphics for the last 10 days or so. I wish I could tell you how much fun it has been. Oh, what a joy. Even more, I wish I could tell you that I had this little project wrapped up.
When I first started collecting digital scrapbooking supplies, I tried using iPhoto to organize my growing stash. I love using iPhoto to organize and manage my photographs. Even more fabulous since the face recognition and location features were added. Not so fabulous for organizing digital scrapbooking stuff. At least not for me.
Then I tried Shoebox. It was buggy. That was followed by the MAC version of ACDSee. I just knew it was the answer to my organizing prayers. It wasn't. Then I tried Adobe Bridge. Too confusing. I couldn't figure out how to do a search using keywords. Maybe if I had read this, I wouldn't have moved on to my latest photo management tool.
I'm trying out Picasa. So far, so good.
Then I realized it wasn't just the shoes that are kinda cute. It is that silly monkey purse. I want that monkey purse.
My favorite technique is adding texture to photos. When I first played around with adding texture, I was hooked. The following photos just took a couple of minutes each. So easy! So much that can be done. So great for people that have no photography skills...like myself.
I could do this all day long.
I was on the verge of giving up. After hours of frustration and attempts to complete my class assignments, I finally had to have a chat with myself. I was not going to let Illustrator beat me. TIP: Referring to this is very helpful.
I am so happy with myself that I registered for the intermediate class.
