Photo Techniques

I am having so much fun with Jessica Sprague's Photo Editing Class. If you didn't sign up for this two week freebie class, you are missing out. I'm learning a bunch of new stuff.

My favorite technique is adding texture to photos. When I first played around with adding texture, I was hooked. The following photos just took a couple of minutes each. So easy! So much that can be done. So great for people that have no photography skills...like myself.

I could do this all day long.

Making Progress

Gradan_homewrok_1a

I was on the verge of giving up. After hours of frustration and attempts to complete my class assignments, I finally had to have a chat with myself. I was not going to let Illustrator beat me. TIP: Referring to this is very helpful.

I am so happy with myself that I registered for the intermediate class.

Hope everyone has a wonderful, fun, and safe 4th of July. I also want to wish my dad a very happy birthday!

Friday Flair Failure

App_full_proxy.phpThis Friday Flair thing isn't working out so well.

And neither is my attempt to live a Complaint Free Life. In my endeavor to "self-improve" myself, I thought I would give it a whirl.

It is suppose to take anywhere from 4 to 10 months to successfully go 21 days without complaining. Then after the 21 days "your entire life is happier, more loving and more enjoyable".

I can't even make it two minutes without having to start over.

Love It

I love, love, love J. Crew. Don't you? I would like one of everything from their store. But I'd would be more than pleased with this. So adorable.

He wants to swim so much. Even with his life jacket on...he sinks.

Hope you are enjoying the summer.

Blog to Book & Banner Review

Someday I would like to have my blog printed into a book. How cool would that be?

Since I'm still in the process of uncluttering my MAC and external hard drive and I want to include past banners in my future blog book, I thought I would do a banner review.

SP_BlogBanner_Eclectic copy2

I originally called this blog Simply Yummy. It was in honor of a certain someone. If you read the original Turnips and Carrots when I blogged over here, than you know who I'm talking about. Simply Yummy lasted a single day, after I came across another blog titled Simply Yummy. I thought I was being original. Apparently...I wasn't. Needless to say, I went back to Turnips and Carrots.

I used this because I was clueless on how to make my own banner.

This was the first banner that I created. I remember I was so stressed out when I was making it. I was using Photoshop Elements and still wasn't comfortable with the software. I laugh about that now. When I was finished and had the banner loaded onto my blog, I was so proud of myself. Funny.

I can't remember who the designer of the flourish thingie is, so can't give credit. And I don't know why when I preview this post, some of the images are fuzzy.

You know I love anything designed by Rhonna Farrer. The images used in this banner are from her Snap Shot Frames Brush Kit. So easy - just resize and color the brushes and stamp them on a white background, then add text. I had this one up for a long time.

Junqueblogbannerflat

Another little something from Rhonna Farrer. This is from her Urban Junque Border Kit.

Katie Pertiet is another fabulous designer. The flowers are from the Sun Print Brushes & Stamps 2.

Finally, my current banner that is up. I used Rhonna Swirls v6.

I still love pink and orange. I still love my blog clean and simple.

Just Another Manic Monday

10301Have y'all seen the new Vintage Findings collection by Making Memories? Drool. Yesterday I went to Michaels to stock up on adhesive. Of course, Michaels just has to have the collection displayed right as you walk in. I kept telling myself "Stay away from the display fixture" and "You are only here to buy adhesive". I didn't listen myself. Don't you hate when that happens?

Other happenings in the S household:

  • Lauren starts tennis camp today. She is really excited.
  • Something is wrong with our pool filter. Water keeps emptying out of the spa and pool. Plus, the equipment is making strange noises. Mike keeps trying to fix it. I haven't asked him yet if he is sure he knows what he is doing.
  • I am completely frustrated with my Illustrator class.
  • I am slowly eliminating Diet Coke from my life. I am down to 2 a day. Next is coffee.
  • Still going strong on the workouts.
  • I have lots of piddly things to do on My To Do List - make vet appointments, eye doctor appointments and so on.
Have a fabulous Monday!
